The much-awaited sequel to Pushpa: The Rise, titled Pushpa 2: The Rule, is making waves in the Indian film industry even before its official release. Scheduled to hit theaters on December 5, the Allu Arjun-starrer has already sold over 1 million tickets on BookMyShow.
The milestone places it ahead of pre-release records previously held by blockbusters such as Kalki 2898 AD, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and K.G.F.: Chapter 2.
The film, directed by Sukumar, has secured Rs 50 crore in advance bookings for its opening day. Early estimates indicate a net collection of Rs 35.58 crore across Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam markets.
The Telugu market leads with Rs 17.16 crore in pre-sales, while Hindi and Malayalam markets have contributed Rs 12 crore and Rs 1.02 crore respectively. Analysts predict that these figures will climb further as the release date approaches.
The success of the first installment, combined with Allu Arjunโs National Award-winning portrayal of Pushpa Raj, has fueled massive anticipation for this sequel. Fans are eagerly waiting to see the actor reprise his role alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil.
Unlike most releases, Pushpa 2 is witnessing unprecedented advance sales across both northern and southern markets. Industry experts project an opening day gross of Rs 200 crore in India and close to Rs 300 crore globally. If these predictions hold true, the film could surpass records set by RRR.
The Andhra Pradesh government has also approved a special ticket price hike for the film. This decision has made Pushpa 2 one of the most expensive Telugu films for audiences. Despite the premium pricing, several theaters have already reported sold-out shows, including early morning screenings.
Continuing the tale of power struggles and red sandalwood smuggling introduced in the first part, Pushpa 2: The Rule is expected to expand on the narrative that captivated audiences worldwide.
