Brick and mortar coaching centre operator FIITJEE chairman DK Goel was caught on video hurling verbal abuse at an employee during an official online meeting in what is seen as shocking display of misconduct.
The incident involved Goel passing on derogatory remarks to an employee but also about their family. The video has triggered widespread outrage on social media, with many calling out the chairman for his immoral behaviour.
The controversy began when a staff member from the Thane branch questioned FIITJEE’s Rs 142 crore investment in the edtech sector during a virtual meeting with center heads.
The question enraged Goe.
The employee tried to clarify that the information was publicly available. But Goel’s fury intensified.
In the now-viral video shared on social media platform Reddit, Goel can be heard saying: “Useless people… what kind of sht people are these? You know the name of your father, the person who has written this? Nonsense. Go ask your mother who your father is. Nonsense people.” He went on to demand, “Who is this bl*dy person? Throw him out of Mumbai!”
The rant didn’t stop here. He further made offensive remarks about the employee’s family and called them “ku**e ki aulad” and even insinuated ties to a “red-light area.” He even challenged the employee to take him to court over his comments to dismiss any accountability.
An attempt by another attendee to defuse the situation by suggesting Goel address the issue calmly only provoked him further. In response, he lashed out, calling the person a “b*stard” and declaring, “I don’t want to see him in FIITJEE.”
The shocing comes on the heels of reports of financial instability within FIITJEE. Teachers have allegedly not been paid their salaries since February 2023, with the company initially attributing the delay to financial challenges.
However, teachers were later reportedly blamed for FIITJEE’s financial struggles. The teachers also faced threats of penalties if they chose to leave the organization.
